I have a passion to work with character creation or game art. I feel inspired to work with 3D and sculpting and whilst I have not done these for clients as yet, I would love to get to a space where I can create characters or artworks professionally.
This design was created in my spare time and I am currently still learning new methods and mediums for how I want to create these pieces. Each feels unique to me and even though they are rough concepts and more work can be put into them to refine them, I feel as though they convey a sense of personality for the characters. I aspire to possibly work with a team in the future to see these designs come to life.
I currently work with a freelance writer Gareth Swart, who crafts various worlds and stories around the characters to create a sense of believability.
I used Zbrush to concept up the initial designs and shapes of the characters. I then exported material maps and combined and refined them in photoshop for the final render. I used Pureref to pull references from certain pieces that I liked beforehand to inspire me.
The scientist stared at his reflection illuminated on the giant tube that dominated his lab. His chamelic skin was green now which betrayed his emotions of anxiety. He noted his black orbital eyes carried signs of sleep deprivation and thought it fitting. His mission to create life had been one failure after another. Year after year he produced no results and lost the faith and funding of his people. Still he persisted on, still he persevered. He was condemned as a mad man and declared insane, he was not. He was a scientist and scientists don't care about sensationalism only results.
When the first of his own staff abandoned him he did not so much as care, when the second group did he only got annoyed. However when the last of his staff threatened mutiny he had his epiphany. Nobody noticed the third group disappearing because there was nobody left to notice. His own reflection almost smiled at him knowingly. The anxiety grew in his chest as he waited, gazing deep into the green liquid of the tank. Several bodies floated past limply. They were stuck together at odd angles as they slowly merged together. It appeared as a clump of limbs and faces in mid screams .The drugs and electricity in the liquid had mutated the skins in cancerous ways. The abomination floated out of sight back into the depths of the tank. He didn't even flinch, only exhaled a sigh of relief. Matter cannot be created nor destroyed it can only be transferred. It occurred to him life followed the same laws. Bubbled screams came from several voices deep inside the tank. If he could not create life then he would simply perfect it.
Created in my spare time using Zbrush and Photoshop.
